The D&D Dogs Story
More than a hot dog stand — a family business woven into the fabric of Evanston for over five decades.
Our Story
A Noyes Street Favorite in Evanston
D&D Dogs is more than a place to grab a great hot dog, burger, breakfast sandwich, or Italian beef. It is a longtime Evanston neighborhood favorite with deep roots on Noyes Street, where generations of locals, students, families, and visitors have stopped in for good food, fast service, and a familiar face behind the counter.
For decades, D&D has been part of the rhythm of this neighborhood. Whether you are heading to class, getting off the train, grabbing lunch with family, or stopping in for a quick bite, D&D Dogs has become one of those places people remember, return to, and recommend.
The Founders
A Family Business Built in Evanston
The D&D story begins with brothers Thomas and Peter Douvikas, who opened the business in Evanston in 1973. The “D&D” name comes from the two brothers, who built the business on hard work, hospitality, and strong relationships with the people they served.
Today, that same spirit continues through the next generation, with the Douvikas family carrying forward the relationships, consistency, and neighborhood feel that helped make D&D what it is.

Neighbors have described D&D as dependable, friendly, and personal, while staff and customers have emphasized the welcoming environment that keeps people coming back. That kind of reputation cannot be manufactured overnight. It is built over years of showing up, serving people well, and becoming part of the community.
